Watch: Young Kiwi singing goes viral

A video of a young Kiwi covering the hit song One Call Away outside a South Auckland supermarket is going viral.

The short clip, shot by Sharik Hussein outside Countdown in Mangere East, shows a young man identified only as Tyrone performing a stirring rendition of the Charlie Puth song on an acoustic guitar.

It has been viewed more than 120,000 times since it was posted to Facebook earlier this month. The video has also garnered more than 7000 likes and been shared close to 800 times.

Mr Hussein said there were a lot of talented people in the Mangere community "and this young man is one of them".

He said Tyrone had "a dream to go big" and was thrilled to be videoed.

"I believe he deserves some recognition for his budding talent. Like and share if you think hes got potential. I'll be seeing him next Sunday for another jam.

"For Tyrone, this is for you mate."

Facebook users posted dozens of positive remarks, with some saying they had seen him perform at the Mangere town centre and the Mangere Bridge markets.

Tyrone himself chimed in under the Facebook name Souljah Souls, saying: "Thank you very much and my name is Tyrone lol algds I am proud and cracking it for my band! This is my music page "Souljah Souls" if you all like to add? Sweet!!"
