Police have confirmed the arrest of wanted woman Khe Sanh Cox, whose unusual name set social media alight last week.

Cox became infamous after South Australia Police posted her mugshot and an appeal for information on Facebook.

The public didn't miss the connection between her name and the well-known Cold Chisel song.

Her famous name didn't do her any favours, only amplifying the plea from police for information as it went viral.

Authorities were on the hunt for the 28-year-old Surrey Downs woman after she allegedly removed a home detention monitoring bracelet from her ankle and went on the run.

South Australia Police have now revealed they received information on Saturday evening pertaining to a stolen blue Honda Civic, which had been spotted travelling around Kingston on Murray.

Cox, who took off on social media for sharing the namesake of Cold Chisel's 1978 hit, was believed to be in the stolen vehicle.

Police were then called to a Waikerie petrol station just before 7pm after a woman driving a car fitting the description allegedly failed to pay for petrol.

Polair kept track of the vehicle as it wove around Elizabeth, Elizabeth North and Davoren Park before making its way to Greenwith.

The car was later dumped on Reordan Drive where the female driver and a male passenger fled the vehicle, sprinting through a park before allegedly breaking into a house on McCann Place.

Police patrols surrounded the address and were sent in to apprehend the 28-year-old woman and 37-year-old man. They are expected to be charged with a number of serious offences on Sunday.

Police reported a woman was home at the time of the "serious criminal trespass" but was not physically injured.

The original post from police asking for information quickly went viral, attracting hundreds of likes and comments. Most of the comments were from Cold Chisel fans, quoting song lyrics.
