With the firecracker of a movie which sprang this collection, largely set in the Los Angeles of the late-teen, late-night rave, it's predictable much of this should have its trainers firmly on the dancefloor.
However, its clubland cohesiveness is disjointed by the MTV-friendly pop offerings of No Doubt (the
New Wave-ish New), Natalie Imbruglia (Troubled By The Way We Came Together) and Eagle-Eye Cherry (a remix of his Shooting Up in Vain). But there's also a rewarding line in the turntable-sliced, loungey, funky stuff (Fatboy Slim's Gangster Tripping, Lionrock's Fire Up the Shoesaw, Jimmy Luxury & the Tommy Rome Orchestra re-working Dean Martin on Cha Cha Cha) as well as strobe-friendly electronic crankings (BT's Believer, Air's Talisman, Leftfield with Nicole Wills on Swords).
With fast-forward finger fully employed, it can be useful.
