Superstition holds it's good luck to cross a newborn's palm with silver to wish the child riches and health, but Britain's baby Prince George is getting something more: A whole new set of coins in his honour.
Britain's Royal Mint said the 5 pound coin will carry the image of the child's great-grandmother Queen Elizabeth II on the front and cherubs and lilies on the back.
The Royal Mint routinely issues commemorative coins for royal occasions, although it said that this would be its first set meant to mark a christening, the ceremony by which children are welcomed into the church through baptism.
Thousands of silver, gold and uncirculated versions of the coin are being minted.
Prince George was born July 22.
For the first time in New Zealand a postage stamp was issued to celebrate a royal birth - with the release of one baring the face of Prince George.
The set of stamps feature the first photographs taken of Prince George with his parents Prince William and Kate Middleton outside St Mary's Hospital in London a day after his July 22 birth.
Pre-orders for the stamps are available now. First day covers and presentation packs will be sold at outlets from September 11.
