As a teen, Ari loved the gothic scene and would visit fetish clubs to meet like-minded people.
Aged 19, she had her first dominatrix experience in a club where she whipped a stranger.
She explains: "A young man approached me and asked me to whip him. I agreed and he removed his shirt.
"I started whipping his torso lightly but, as soon I saw he was enjoying it, I really got into it.
"I felt empowered with each lashing."
After 25 lashes, the stranger was left with welts on his skin and Ari left the club on a high.
In the following years she went to Aberystwyth University to study Sports and Exercise Science and her interest in domination continued to grow.
In 2011, aged 25, she became a full-time dominatrix and set up her own website, calling herself Domina Araneae.
Soon after she began to receive a flurry of odd requests from men.
She says: "I received an email from one man wanting me to smother him with my toes.
"Another wanted me to belittle him. It sounded bizarre, but who was I to judge?"
Today, Ari sees about 20 clients a month, who she refers to as her "submissives".
The services she offers include: sissification, wrestling and foot trampling.
Despite her risque job, she never has sex with her clients and her boyfriend of four years, Kieran Helps, 29, a bar manager, is supportive of her career choice.
Ari says: "Kieran is happy to role-play in the bedroom, although he doesn't like being dominated, he's supportive of what I do. My family and friends are great about it, too."
Over the last two years, Ari has ventured into the foot fetish scene and now enjoys trampling her size six feet on to men's faces.
She even sends her clients her used, smelly gym socks for £25 a pair.
And Ari's favourite dominatrix service is known as "ball busting", where she kicks a man in his private parts.
She says: "Who wouldn't want to do it?"
In the last 10 years, Ari has earned £250,000 as a dominatrix, now raking in on average £4000 a month.
And since the release of the Fifty Shades of Grey film, Ari saw a surge in clients - some wanting her to blindfold or tie them up with a silk tie like in the movie.
She says: "Not everyone will approve of my job. It's certainly not your typical 9 to 5. But I have to say, with my kinky career, there's never a dull day in the office!"
