Bianca Hector thought finding out their daughter Mackenzie had cancer was the worst thing to happen to their family.
Then they lost their twin daughter Brooklyn, a day before their segment on One Born Every Minute was due to air.
The NSW family has shared their heartache on target="_blank">GoFundMe, after the initial joy of having the twins Brooklyn and Hunter in August, reports News.com.au.
Six weeks after they found out they were having twins they got the devastating news Mackenzie was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia.
The family then got to document their pregnancy and Mackenzie's treatment on the ABC show.
But at the start of September Mackenzie became extremely unwell and ended up in intensive care with sepsis.
"This was very trying on us as we had a one-year-old and newborn twins to care for and have found it extremely tough as we are both unable to work and have lived on one income for the year," Ms Hector wrote.
"I thought finding out Kenzie had cancer and ending up in ICU would have been the worst time we had this year, little did I know the worst was yet to come.
"On the 18th of November, one day before our episode was due to air, after being at the hospital all day with Mackenzie, I had walked through the door and Brooklyn was not breathing.

"My husband was on the phone to triple-0 while I started to give her CPR."
Ms Hector said she went with Brooklyn to the hospital where staff did their best to try and save her.
"Just after 7pm that night my little angel was pronounced dead never to come home," she said.
"I cannot describe the feelings or emotions we are all experiencing at the moment and am finding it hard to continue each and every day.
"But we have three small children who depend on us and we can't just give up."
Ms Hector said they would never normally ask for help but they were in this difficult time of their lives and decided to reach out.
"Nothing will ever bring back our little princess," she said.
"Nothing will ever stop the pain we are experiencing but we are asking for the help to try and keep things as normal as possible for Mackenzie, Peyton and Hunter."
The fundraising page has already collected more than $60,000 of a $15,000 target.
Ms Hector said watching the episode, which went to air this week, was hard.
"I wasn't sure whether I would be able to bring myself to watch it, however I did and although it was extremely hard to watch I'm glad I did," she said.
"It still does not feel real but we are all taking it one day at a time."
She said she struggled to hug Hunter as he is a constant reminder that Brooklyn is no longer with them.
