Warning: graphic content
In recent times, we've been subjected to some truly heinous wedding trends.
From the "Candy-Flipping White Girls At Secret Garden" aesthetic of flower-crown tiaras, to overly-earnest chalkboard signs like "Last Chance To Run!", getting married in the hipster age is a whole new ball game.
Brace yourselves, dear friends, because an #edgy new trend has raised the stakes to a disturbing new height.
Presenting ... the engagement ring piercing:
Yep. We're now privy to a new engagement trend in which couples are getting surface anchors pierced directly onto their damn ring fingers.
Oh, how we yearn for simpler times.
Like ... just look at that. You can literally see that tiny, presumably-painful circumference of finger-skin around that metal.
And you'll notice some of the Insta snaps feature a sexy, crusty ring of dried blood around the mark.
Because nothing says "I love you" like "PUNCTURE MY FINGER SO I CAN LITERALLY BLEED FOR YOU FOR ETERNITY".
One of the most graphic images to appear on Instagram has been denounced as a fake, with many claiming the ring has been photoshopped.
Yeah, this is a trend we need to quash immediately. Speak now, or forever hold your piercing.
