The truth about the Kathmandu, Tanya Carlson all weather wedding dress

Earlier today adventure brides across the country were preparing to climb to the highest peak to get their hands on a Kathmandu all weather "Adapt Wedding Dress", designed by Tanya Carlson.

Using seven metres of GORE-TEX fabric - usually used for outdoor wet weather gear - to create a signature Carlson silhouette, the merino-lined dress boasts several features to withstand tough conditions and keep up with the most adventurous of brides.

The train transforms into a cape - to keep your hair in place against those inevitable alpine gales - and internal zips allow you to whip off the hem for a playful secondary look at your reception.

And when the party's over, the dress packs down into a tiny travel-sized backpack. Sounds like a recipe for wrinkles, right? Fear not: the robust fabric means zero crushing while crease-detailing is built into the skirt's design.

Carlson designed the V-neck dress, which features a beautiful full skirt resplendent with giant pockets, to be "elegant, yet able to adapt to any conditions".

The dress is, in fact, a bit of an April Fool's prank. While Kathmandu has no plans to put the dress into production, there is a one-off creation that will be auctioned off for charity.
