Emma Corrin is a little-known actress who's likely to become a household name after landing the role of a young Princess Diana in the hit series The Crown.
According to the Daily Mail, an advertisement for the role included that the show runners were in search of a "staggeringly talented young actress" to play the Princess aged 18 and 22. Corrin's casting was announced via the show's Twitter account and she will begin filming later this year.
Corrin has made an official statement in response to news of the role, noting she will "strive to do [Diana] justice":
"I have been glued to the show and to think I'm joining this incredibly talented acting family is surreal. Princess Diana was an icon and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring.
"To explore her through Peter Morgan's writing is the most exceptional opportunity and I will strive to do her justice."
Corrin's previous roles include soon-to-be released film, Misbehaviour and an episode of 1960s-set detective drama Grantchester.
The young actress joins Olivia Coleman, set to play the Queen, and Helena Bonham Carter who is to play Princess Margaret.
