Brendan Fraser must have done something really, really awful in a previous life (okay, apart from George Of The Jungle) to have been struck by the curse of the Mummy — twice.
In this sequel to 1999's original tomb raider story, nine years have passed.
Egyptologist Rick O'Connell (Fraser) and Evelyn (Rachel Weisz), the librarian he met in the first film, are married with an obnoxious 8-year-old son, Alex (Freddie Boath). It's 1933, they're back in sandy places and Evelyn is dreaming of ancient Egypt and mythical kings or iguanas or somesuch.
An evil cult is trying to raise the spirit of the original mummy (Arnold Vosloo), a good guy is out to stop them, and WWF wrestling hero the Rock is a Scorpion King who ... well, I don't know because I lost the plot, so to speak, somewhere around here and just watched the special effects.
Which are pretty good. Just wish the Rock had body-slammed one or two of them. Would have livened things up. Especially if it'd been that damn kid.
