Susan Sarandon wants to reach 100 years' old.

The actress has enjoyed an incredible big screen career, starring in acclaimed movies such as 'Thelma and Louise', 'The Witches of Eastwick' and 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show', but now she is 71 her ambition has turned to self-preservation.

Sarandon hopes she can make it to a century of years alive because she wants to remain a part of the lives of her three children, her sons Jack, 28, and Miles, 25, with Tim Robbins, and 32-year-old daughter Ava with her ex-husband Franco Amurri, and her grandchildren.

Speaking to the April issue of German Vogue magazine, she said: "I don't have to be on Earth forever. I would like to reach 100 to be able to see how my children and grandchildren are doing. But only, if I still function well. Otherwise, I don't care."

Sarandon has watched with much interest as Hollywood has been shaken up by the Time's Up and #MeToo movements, both inspired by the Harvey Weinstein sex abuse scandal.

The Academy Award winner is please that the issue of harassment and sexism is being addressed but she still thinks that Tinsel Town needs to do more because Hollywood is really only obsessed on the "numbers" movies make.

Referring to Kevin Spacey being dropped from Sir Ridley Scott's 'All the Money in the World' after being accused of sexual misconduct by several men, she said: "Intelligence is definitely not needed there [Hollywood]. I'm not sure, if it's an advantage or a disadvantage. But the entertainment industry rewards mediocrity ... Hollywood focuses only on numbers and territories.

"So many directors have to cast actors they don't really want. When Kevin Spacey came under fire, he was replaced by Christopher Plummer in 'All the Money in the World'. Ridley Scott said that he wanted him from the beginning, but wasn't allowed to cast him, because people thought, Spacey's 'House of Cards' success would guarantee a large audience.

"Look at who we have as President (Donald Trump) - he's a reality show star. The people believed in him because of his image - which had nothing to do with him. The people who decide about the casting of a role, act according to marketing aspects. As far as I know, that's also true for models in the fashion industry. That's why the kids of famous people play such a big role.

"At the same time, there's so many beautiful women, who don't get a chance."
