7PM, TV2
THE ZOO
An otter makes a daring escape and starts popping up in various, far-flung places around Auckland.

7.30PM, TV3
PREHISTORIC PARK
With the help of CGI and animatronics, natural history expert Nigel Marven brings back baby T-rex dinosaurs, a South American sabre-toothed cat, 300 million-year-old superbugs and huge, prehistoric
crocodiles.

8.30PM, TV ONE
VINCENT
New drama starring the ever-reliable Ray Winstone as Vincent Gallagher, a headstrong private investigator who gets caught in the emotional nature of his work. Coronation Street's Suranne Jones plays his right-hand-woman Beth. Tonight, they investigate a case of suspected adultery.

8.35, PRIME
SOUL DEEP: THE STORY OF BLACK POPULAR MUSIC
The BBC team which made series such as Lost Highway and Dancing In The Street are at it again, this time with a broad-brush look at soul music in particular, and black music in general.
The title is a little misleading if you're expecting a searching examination of the soul genre; the sub-title is a more accurate reflection of where this programme is at.
Tonight's first episode will get musical purists' hackles up straight away when it looks at the birth of soul and contends that Ray Charles was its sole inventor.
And a series that tracks the genre up to modern times and identifies Whitney Houston as a soul singer definitely has credibility problems.
But no matter, sit back and enjoy the footage and sweet sounds of artists such as Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin.

9PM, ALT TV (UHF 62)
TOP OF THE ROCKS
You might not recognise the names on the bill but these up-and-coming local bands performing at Space nightclub might blow your socks off. Tonight's line-up includes Puppet, Alpine Fault and Flightpath.

10.50PM, TV ONE
SAS JUNGLE: ARE YOU TOUGH ENOUGH?
A group of ordinary men and women endure 10 days of hell in the Borneo jungle, as British SAS soldiers re-create their brutal selection process in one of the most hostile environments on earth.

MOVIES
[rated out of 5]

8.30PM, TV2
MAID IN MANHATTAN
Herald rating: * *
Jennifer Lopez plays a hotel maid who is mistaken for a socialite by a senatorial candidate (Ralph Fiennes). A lack-lustre attempt at rehashing Sabrina or Pretty Woman. (2002)

10.45PM, TV2
RESIDENT EVIL
Herald rating: * * *
After a secret experiment goes bung and a virus is released, hundreds of scientists are turned into zombies. Milla Jovovich stars in this adaptation of the popular video game and as far as games adapted to the screen go, it's good. (2002)

6PM, SKY MOVIES 2, 8.30PM, SKY MOVIES 1
MONSTER IN LAW
Herald rating: * *
Jane Fonda plays an obsessive mother recovering from a mental breakdown, who re-enters her son's life just as he falls in love and gets engaged to a free spirited dog-walker, played by Jennifer Lopez. A tedious domestic war breaks out between the two females. (2005)

SPORT

7AM, SKY SPORT 1
HOCKEY WORLD CUP
Depending on where the Black Sticks finished, you'll see them either playing in the semis or fighting it out for the lesser places. Likewise tomorrow, you could see them in a match to determine their final placing (3pm, Sky Sport 1) or the final (6pm, Sky Sport 1).

12.25AM, SKY SPORT 2 LIVE
FA PREMIERSHIP: CHELSEA V LIVERPOOL
This encounter is the first of a classic doubleheader involving the four teams you'd expect to be fighting for the league title. Manchester United v Arsenal follows afterwards at 2.55am on the same channel.
