I'm sure you can find an out-of-date bottle in the bottom of the cupboard or a brand you're really not fond of to use on the BBQ.
Beer makes an excellent BBQ cleaner as it cuts through the grease.
Pour half a bottle of beer over a heated BBQ then rub with newspaper to clean. In seconds your grill will be clean and ready for action.
And the good news is you don't even need to use the whole bottle!
RUB AN ONION ON THE GRILL:
Rub half an onion onto a hot grill using a fork to keep the heat at arm's length
The onion will remove the grit on the grill that may be left over from previous cleans.
Be careful not to cry - the tears won't assist in cleaning, it'll only slow the process up.
USE FOIL:
If you have vinegar around, spray some on the grill plate then roll tin foil into a ball and wipe off the grease with ease.
PREVENT RUST BY USING VEGETABLE OIL:
After you've cleaned the BBQ, rubbing vegetable oil onto the surface will help prevent rust.
This will help protect the metal and slow down rusting.
