Aerosmith's Steven Tyler has revealed he has secretly been battling hepatitis C.

The rocker, whose daughter is actress Liv Tyler, said he was diagnosed three years ago and now wanted to speak out and warn people about the disease.

He was treated with interferon, which "just about killed me", Tyler said. "Of all the people in this room, at least three have hepatitis C but don't know it. It's the silent killer."

Hepatitis C is a viral infection of the blood that can lead to chronic liver disease. Pamela Anderson is another celebrity who has the disease.
