Split Enz's album 'Mental Notes' has been voted the number one New Zealand album of all time by Rip It Up magazine.
Readers, entertainment writers, musicians and music critics voted in the inaugural Rip It Up New Zealand Top One Hundred Album Countdown.
The magazine described the first Split Enz record as the album that most defined New Zealand music and set the standard in the industry.
Split Enz' co-founder Tim Finn said 'Mental Notes' was recorded 25 years ago, and he is amazed it is still part of the music culture.
He said the second and third placed albums, Che Fu's '2b Spacific' and Shihad's 'Killjoy', showed the diversity of New Zealand music.
