Mum was just coming out from the kitchen.
"Hey Mum! Look what Dessy sent me for my birthday."
Mum came over, took the leather and stroked the pattern lightly with her finger. "That's beautiful, Davin. Dessy's taken a lot of time with it. Make sure you send her a thank
you letter."
I nodded. "What is it though? What's it for?"
Mum didn't answer, she just cocked her head as though she was listening. "Here's Matt," she said, striding away from us.
I could just hear the rumble of his motorbike coming up the drive. Matt must have seen us coming out to watch because he gunned the engine, flew towards the garage then jammed the brakes on and slid the big road bike to a stop.
"Don't show off," growled Mum. "You'll fall over and hurt yourself!"
