Parents' love is supposedly unconditional, but the bonds of blood are not always unbreakable as shocking accounts of children who have been disowned prove.
In a revealing thread on the question and answer site Quora, estranged children and mothers and fathers from around the world who have cutoff their offspring revealed the reasons why they will never speak again, reports Daily Mail.
One man heartbreakingly claimed that his relationship with both his mother and his grandmother was ruined, as neither could forgive him for revealing he'd been raped.
Others spoke of gay children who had been cast off, while one woman alleged that her relationship with her dad broke down because she forgot his birthday while her grandmother was seriously ill.
A man reported that he'd been disowned by his family for shutting down some of his social media accounts because his sister was abusive to him and he didn't want her to be able to contact him.
Another claimed his parents had gone to the synagogue and prayed for him as if it were a funeral because he married a Catholic woman.
