Sculpture prize ruffles petals

Petals have been ruffled at a Taranaki garden festival, after a judge awarded the top sculpture prize to an entry which comprised an iron cube decorated with plastic poppies from the $2 Shop.

Visiting French garden design judge Bruno Marmiroli was taken to task by two other designers who entered the competition, saying Richard Bain's entry did not reflect the chosen theme for the competition, Celebrating Taranaki's Garden Heritage.
