They broke a promise. When Scary Movie came out, the Naked Gun of horror movies, they said "No Mercy. No Shame. No Sequel." Those Wayans brothers lied.
In the sequel there's a few playful pokes at other movies, starting with a funny takeoff on
The Exorcist (featuring James Woods as the priest), then Titanic, Dirty Harry, Hannibal, Charlie's Angels and a whole bunch of teen movies that I didn't see but I'm sure are in there.
The storyline is a combination of The Haunting and The House On Haunted Hill, with the survivors of the first Scary Movie brought together in a spooky mansion by a researcher (Tim Curry) who is mainly interested in using his surveillance equipment to watch women in the shower.
