Royal Wedding 2018: Prince Harry's touching tributes to late mother Princess Diana

Prince Harry has melted hearts with his touching tributes to Princess Diana throughout his wedding while many online have expressed sorrow at her absence.

Diana's sister Lady Jane Fellowes delivered the only reading of the ceremony about the eternal power of love at Windsor Castle before Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle.

And the hymn "Guide Me, O Thy Great Redeemer" which featured in the wedding was also played at the much loved Princess' funeral.

While the nation watched the royal couple marry with these added tributes, many lamented the Princess of Wales' absence and remarked how "proud she would be".

"Oh Diana! Look at your son! Happy and doing it his way. You did good. The kids are alright. Rest easy up there," one wrote on Twitter.

"I wish Diana could have been there. She would have LOVED this," another wrote.

Others also wished Diana could have been at the wedding and remarked how proud she would have been of how her sons turned out, the MailOnline reported.

"Watching the Royal Wedding can't help but think of Princess Diana and the joy she would be feeling right now," one wrote.

Another wrote: "Watching [Diana's sons] enjoy any happiness always makes it swell. They deserve only love and good. I wish it for them."

"Somewhere, Princess Diana is smiling. This moment is her legacy," one wrote.

Others said: "Princess Diana would be beaming with pride right now. To see that Harry has such an inclusive wedding.

"He is continuing her legacy. May she forever rest in peace. Beautiful soul."

"The way my nan started sobbing thinking of how proud Diana would be of Harry. I had to look away you know, I thought I was [going to] start sobbing as well."

"Meghan's bouquet included Forget-Me-Not flowers handpicked by Harry for this big day! This is a beautiful tribute to the late Princess Diana."

Lady Jane read from the eighth chapter of the Song of Solomon in the knave of St George's Chapel after the couple completed the Declaration.

"Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is strong as death, passion fierce as the grave," it read.

"Its flashes are flashes of fire, a raging flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it.

"If one offered for love all the wealth of one's house, it would be utterly scorned."

The reading was one of several tributes to Diana that Harry included in the service.

Diana's other sister Lady Sarah McCorquodale and her brother Earl Spencer were also in attendance along with Harry's cousins.

The hymn 'Guide Me, O Thy Great Redeemer' which was played at Diana's funeral, was also used as part of the wedding ceremony.

Diana's favourite flowers, white peonies and white garden roses, also adorned an elaborate archway over the organ loft and entryway as guests entered.

Harry also used two diamonds from his mother's personal collection in the engagement ring he had custom made for the proposal.

Harry also handpicked flowers from Kensington Palace to include in Meghan's bouquet, including forget-me-nots which were another of Diana's favourites.

The newly-bestowed Duke of Sussex said in previous interviews his mother would get on extremely well with his new bride.

"Oh they'd be thick as thieves, without question, I think she would be over the moon, jumping up and down, you know so excited for me, but then, as I said, would have probably been best friends - best friends with Meghan," he said.

"It is days like today when I really miss having her around and miss being able to share the happy news, but with the ring and with everything else that's going on, I'm sure she's with us, jumping up and down somewhere else."
