Save A giant flower smelling of rotting flesh could in Auckland this weekend, the first time the rare plant has opened in New Zealand.
Auckland Council are on watch for the flowering of the titan arum - also known as the "corpse flower" - at the Auckland Domain Wintergarden.
Changes to
the colour and size of the giant flower since yesterday morning suggest it could open over the weekend, Auckland Council said.

When it blooms, a huge column at the heart of the flower will rise towards the sky and give off a stench resembling a decomposing animal.
