Game on! You might be able to have great fun, and even a few vicarious thrills, watching someone play Resident Evil: The Game. Just don't expect them to be translated to watching Resident Evil: The Movie. Because, like Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Super Mario
and every other attempt, a great video game does not a great movie make.
The nasty Umbrella Corporation has been testing chemicals and snipping up genes with unforeseen consequences. A bug escapes in its underground lab, the Hive. Scientists are infected and transformed into cannibal mutants. Guard dogs become the hounds from hell.
The Special Tactics and Rescue Squad (yes, Stars), led by Alice (Milla Jovovich), gung-ho Rain (Michelle Rodriguez), Matt (Eric Mabius) and Spence (James Purefoy) are sent to the lab to find out what's going on. You, too, may wonder.
• DVD features: movie (101min); commentary with director Paul Anderson, producer Jeremy Bolt, actors Jovovich and Rodriguez; 5 features; music video; trailers; filmographies; production notes.
