Prince Charles and Camilla return to NZ

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are returning to New Zealand.

Prime Minister John Key confirmed today that the royal couple would make their second joint visit to this country in November.

The Prince of Wales and the Duchess last visited New Zealand in 2012 for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.

"We agreed then that future visits should occur more regularly than in the past, to build on the close and special links between New Zealand and Their Royal Highnesses," Mr Key said.

"I am delighted to welcome them both back to New Zealand."

It will be the second visit by members of the Royal family to New Zealand this year, following Prince Harry's week-long tour in May.

Details of the visit would be released at a later date, Mr Key's office said.

The Royal visit may coincide with the first referendum on what is a fundamental link to The Crown - changing the New Zealand flag.

The first flag referendum on November 20, will look at the alternative designs for the flag.

The set dates for the Royal visit have yet to be made public.
