A Harry Potter fan has been left in hysterics after discovering that her friend has mistakenly read a fanfiction take on the Wizarding novel.
Shelley Zhang, based in the US, was contacted by her friend Chris after he became a little concerned about the plot line of what he believedto be The Order of the Phoenix, according to the Daily Mail.
In a text to Shelley, Chris says: "So Dudley dies in Harry Potter right?"

A confused Shelley explains this is not the case leading to a baffled Chris revealing that he has just come to the part in the "book" where Dudley commits suicide.
It quickly transpires that Chris has indeed been reading a piece of fanfiction when he continues to explain other elements of the plot line.
Describing the happenings of what he thought to be fifth installment of the novel Chris recounts details of a romance between Harry and Hermione, Neville's struggles with potion addiction and Harry's pet snake - all of which true Potter fans will know to be false.
Clearly tickled by her friend's faux pas Shelley took to Twitter to share screen shots of their hilarious conversation.

She accompanied the images with the following tweet: 'Friend is reading Harry Potter for the first time.
"He suddenly realises he's read a fanfiction Order of the Phoenix instead of the real one."
The tweet quickly went viral receiving a total of 56,000 retweets and 133,000 likes since it was shared on Monday.
Following the immense response Shelley later tweeted: "Honestly, the best part about this is people tweeting about how this made them laugh or made their day. Chris (aka friend) and I are amazed."
