'Possessed' baby has the internet spooked

A creepy video of a toddler perched on the railing of his cot has viewers spooked, and claiming the child captured on a Nanny Cam is possessed.

Uploaded to YouTube and viewed more than 2.5 million times, the 52-second video begins with a distressed toddler crying in his cot.

He then attempts to get out by scaling the side of his crib and pulling himself upright on the railing.

For 22 seconds he stands balanced on the slim rail, screaming out "mummy", before he falls with a thud back into the cot.

Shared by YouTube account Chris and Keelan Chronicles, the caption reads: "Caught on Nanny cam in the middle of the night... No children were harmed. This is not my child in the video."

Some eagle-eyed viewers have noted a moment in the footage where, just before the little boy falls, he briefly disappears, and believe this is evidence that the video has been manipulated.

While some were quick to shun the idea of paranormal activity, many believe the footage of the child pulling himself up to stand on the railing is genuine.

One viewer surmised: "Not possessed it's just good at balancing... It would however [sic] been scary if the baby fell forwards."
