Olivia Wilde can look like a "tranny"

Olivia Wilde has to be careful with her make-up application as she can look like a "tranny".

The actress was recently named the new brand ambassador for Revlon alongside Emma Stone. However, Wilde claims she has to be careful with how she applies cosmetics as she can sometimes come off looking too masculine.

"A strong eye and a strong lip is hard for my face," she told Stylelist.com. "I can go tranny really fast. It's true, because I have a really strong jaw. So for me, I just have to be cognisant of the way that it transforms my face."

Wilde is well known for her high cheekbones and feline eyes. Despite these beautiful features, she admits she has always been a bit self-conscious about her lips.

"I never had beautiful, luscious lips - that was never my defining characteristic." she revealed. "I focus more on playing with my eye make-up, I've always enjoyed it."

The star loves to wear black winged-eyeliner. She picked up the style from her favourite sixties icons and can now apply the look with ease.

"French New Wave film stars like Anna Karina - I always really loved that aesthetic. You always gravitate toward things that naturally sort of fit your face," she explained. "I'm now confident enough with eye make-up that I can have a little mirror and throw on eyeliner in the back of a cab."

However, Wilde has had a few beauty disasters. The stunning star is particular embarrassed about her old school days.

"I was experimental as a kid, I had every different colour hair. I had horrible, horrible ideas of what was cool, but then you learn and you play. I thank God Facebook didn't exist then," she laughed. "I plucked off all my eyebrows in school! For seven years, I haven't touched my eyebrows. I mean, I don't let anyone near them with a tweezer."

Luckily she has managed to completely transform her look. The 27-year-old is more confident now.

"In your 20s, you're sort of figuring out, that you shouldn't be anybody else," she revealed. "And once you hit that, once you realise that, 'Oh, I have a thing that no one else has, I should celebrate that', then I think you hit a stride of confidence that empowers you."
