It wasn't quite claws out at the New Zealand Fashion Weekend Pop-Up Sale at Auckland's viaduct this morning.
But a steady stream of stilettos click-clacked up the escalators as members of the public vied to get their hands on designer fashion which may ordinarily be out of their price range.
The sale, which marks the end of the country's premium fashion event, New Zealand Fashion Week, will see hundreds of designer items going at reduced prices in the Viaduct Events Centre over the weekend.
Amid an overwhelming aroma of potpourri and perfume, punters bought up clothes from New Zealand labels including Storm, Hailwood, Willa & Mae, and Harman Grubisa.
High School student Victoria Crosswell picked up a $595 Lonely Hearts coat for $100.
"I'm quite happy at the moment," she said. "It's a great opportunity because people who go into shops and spend so much on this can just come in here and get it for way, way less than what you'd usually get it for." Others were not so keen to chat.
"I can't talk to you I've only got 15 minutes to shop," one woman said.
One of the event organisers, Chloe Delamore, said there hadn't been any argy-bargy by customers wanting to be first to the most desirable items.
"The clothes are just gorgeous, I mean, you look around and you'll see some of the top New Zealand labels. I would say there's 50 per cent or more markdowns so you're looking at $400 dresses down to $100, kind of thing.
"It's an awesome opportunity for the public to get involved in the hype and the buzz and the glamour and the excitement around Fashion Week."
