The 100% NZ Bacon of the Year winner is Cashmere Cuisine in Christchurch for their honey cured manuka smoked middle eye bacon.
The 100% NZ Ham of the Year winner is Westmere Butchery, Auckland for their honey cured maple bone in ham entry.
The 100% NZ Bacon & Ham Competition celebrates New Zealand's finest cured pork products and helps customers identify and appreciate home-grown, sustainable bacon and ham. It also celebrates New Zealand's pig farmers, who raise pork solely for kiwis.
This year an impressive 197 entries from 50 entrants nationwide were scrutinised by an expert and panel of 33 judges comprising leading chefs, food connoisseurs and master butchers. The judging was officially opened by NZPork Deputy Chair, Steve Kidby, who had himself been a judge on a previous panel. Anita Sarginson, Ambassador, NZChef's Association was once again the esteemed Head Judge.
