MTV starts here tomorrow and it's more than just a music channel. In fact, there are hardly any music videos on nowadays.
So, during a typical day on MTV New Zealand you can expect to start at 6am with Wake Up, a music show with hit songs that runs for
two or three hours depending on the day.
Then starts the onslaught of non-music programmes like (depending on the day) prankster show Viva La Bam, The Hills (following LC from Laguna Beach as she tries to break into the fashion business), and Dirty Sanchez, about four British idiots who humiliate and hurt each other.
Other well-known programmes that screen throughout the day and night include well-known shows Punk'd, Pimp My Ride, and Wildboyz (starring Steve-O from Jackass), and new shows like Blowin Up, with comedian Jamie Kennedy who's trying to gain hip-hop stardom.
Meanwhile, on the music front, during weekdays there's a music-video show at midday, and on Tuesdays at that time the Top 20 weekly countdown happens.
Other music shows to look out for include Full Tank, which premieres tomorrow at 6pm (and then every Friday at 4pm), local music show 100 per cent Pure NZ (9pm, Saturdays), MTV Artist Exclusive (a close-up look at local and international artists), and Making The Video (behind scenes at video shoots).
* MTV launches in New Zealand tomorrow, and to celebrate the station is holding a free concert in Auckland's Aotea Square at 4pm.
Local hip-hop heavyweight Savage, with support from his Deceptikonz crew, hip-hop diva, Aradhna, and DJs CXL and Manchu, will be playing live.
Then at 6pm transmission will start with the premiere of Full Tank, a music, culture, and travel show, hosted by Amber Peebles and Phil Bostwick. In the first episode, Full Tank travels the North Island in search of the weird, wonderful and kinky, and starts the search for the new MTV VJ.
