The Taranaki Rhododendron Festival, October 27-November 5, showcases 47 stunning gardens, including 15 gardens of national or regional significance identified by the New Zealand Gardens Trust.
Garden trails meander from the province's alpine slopes to its subtropical coastline, and this year participating gardens can only be visited with pre-purchased tickets.
Associated events include a glamorous garden party, lectures, guided walks and exhibitions. Booking and programme details are online, or phone the festival office.
