LOS ANGELES - Marriage has not been kind to supermodel Christie Brinkley. She and her fourth husband, Peter Cook, have separated after 10 years together, her publicist said today.
Brinkley and Cook, an architect, have an 8-year-old daughter, Sailor Lee. Brinkley has two other children from previous marriages.
"Her immediate
concern is for her children, and she's hoping during this obviously difficult time that people will be kind enough to respect her privacy," publicist Elliot Mintz said.
Brinkley, 52, is known around the world for her clean-cut, All-American good looks. Her career as a supermodel has spanned more than three decades, and she has appeared on over 500 magazine covers, in numerous television shows and been a spokeswoman for charitable and activist groups.
She and Cook married in 1996, and together raised Sailor Lee and Jack Paris, her son from a previous marriage to real estate developer Richard Taubman.
Brinkley also was married to singer-songwriter Billy Joel, with whom she had one daughter, Alexa Ray. Brinkley's first marriage was to artist Jean-Francois Allaux.
