If you liked — okay, if you got through to the end of Lars van Trier/Bjork's recent Dancer In The Dark, try this.
Mifune comes from Dogma 95, the von Trier-inspired Danish filmmakers who use natural light and sound, real locations, no props
or music from outside, hand-held cameras and "no directorial touches."
Kresten (Anders W. Berthelsen) marries Claire (Sofie Grabol) from a rich and snotty family. Unfortunately he has omitted to tell them small details of his life: his family's ramshackle farm, retarded brother, mother who hanged herself.
When his father dies Kresten returns to the farm and finds his brother Rud (Jesper Asholt) drinking himself under the table. Their father's body is on the table at the time.
Rud cannot take care of himself, the farm is falling to pieces, and Kresten cannot bring Claire here. He hires a housekeeper who turns out to be a hooker pursued by an angry pimp. You don't need to be an expert in dark, brooding, convoluted Scandinavian films to work out what happens. It may help, though.
