Lightbox electrifies Wallace judges

A large lightbox, titled English Electric, last night won Aucklander Jim Speers $35,000, including a UK residency, in the 13th annual Wallace Art Awards.

Auckland artist Matt Ellwood won the Wallace Development Prize, which includes a residency in New York.

The runners-up were Aucklanders Katja Fabig and Miranda Playfair. Robert McLeod of Wellington received a jury prize.

Forty of the entries are on display at the Wallace Trust Gallery in Queen St, Auckland, until October 1.
