Kiwi shoe fanatics who queued, memed and raffled their way into owning a pair of Kayne West's limited Yeezy kicks are flogging them off to the highest bidder.
At least two pairs of the limited edition adidas shoe designed by the rapper and released last Saturday in New Zealand haveappeared online - at quadruple the price.
Auckland High Street store Loaded was the sole New Zealand stockist of just 33 pairs of the West-designed fully black shoes; which have earnt the star endorsement of his wife, Kim Kardashian.
Store manager Cale Baker said since the release he was aware of two sets that had been sold online in New Zealand.
"One guy came in wearing some and we asked him where he got them and he said he bought them for a bargain $1400 on TradeMe," Baker said.
Eight young men were among the first New Zealanders lucky enough to buy the Yeezy shoes after waiting for up to 80 hours outside Loaded last week.
Another 15 people purchased the shoes after being drawn out of a raffle, while 10 shoe fans living out of Auckland won an Instagram meme competition, allowing them to buy the coveted shoes.
Max Greenslade, 19, of Epsom was among many who sniffed his Yeezys as they were given to him last Saturday.
He didn't mind that he had to remove insoles to make his foot fit and said his Yeezys would never appear on Trade Me or Ebay.
The Herald on Sunday this week found several online listing for Yeezys.
A Wellington-based TradeMe seller was offering a pair for a reserve of $1200.
Ebay had numerous offshore auctions live last night, including some owners offering buy-now options for the limited edition shoes for up to $1841, $1764, and $1687.
On Monday, one American-based owner was offering up a pair for a staggering $20,000.
The Yeezys have been one of the world's most-sought after footwear items since West unveiled some of his adidas-produced designs at New York Fashion Week in February.
Kardashian has been active in lending her profile to promote her husband's range of the shoes, including wearing the footwear at public events and tweeting promotional material about them to her 34.7m followers.
