Rowan Atkinson makes another play for big-screen credibility and an American audience as Johnny English, a bureaucrat in the British Secret Service who becomes a spy when a bomb takes out all the real agents.
Johnny has to foil a plot to steal the Crown
Jewels masterminded by Pascal Sauvage (John Malkovich), a French billionaire who believes his family was robbed of the crown 200 years ago.
It's less a feature-length movie than a series of Bean-style capers dressed up with Natalie Imbruglia, and comes across as yet another Bond spoof. And who needs that when Mike Myers and Pierce Brosnan do it so much better?
