Feelgood Kiwi fun that, unlike so many other attempts in recent years, actually is.
Magik (Alison Bruce) drives her housetruck into Hokitika and sets up her fortune-telling stall.
First palm off the rank is Rose (Nicola Murphy), who works in
the local chemist shop and is married to Stuart (Simon Ferry), an artificial-insemination technician.
Which is poignant because, although Magik sees a child in Rose's future, that dream is fading.
When Rose tells Magik of her childlessness, Magik confesses she's come back to Hokitika to find the child she gave up for adoption 15 years earlier, and the pair pool their energies to chase their last chances for motherhood.
