Speculation is mounting after a radio interview this morning which some listeners believe contains a reference to a "her".
Ardern and partner Clark Gayford announced on Friday that she was pregnant with their first child, due in June.
However theyhad decided to keep the baby's gender to themselves.
In a radio interview this morning, asked how it would work travelling with Diplomatic Protection service officers and a baby in tow, Ardern said: ""I have no doubt I'll be hauling around the country, so it'll be hard to hide."
Or did she say: "I have no doubt I'll be hauling her round the country, so it'll be hard to hide."
Ardern also admitted she and Gayford had a bet as to who would blab the gender secret first.
"I think we've made a mistake in knowing [the sex of the baby], because both of us are taking bets now on who's going to stuff it up," she told More FM.
