We came here because we'd heard a bit of buzz about this place, one of the newer eateries on Ponsonby Rd, where the Resene paint shop used to be.

Parking was pretty easy outside on Ponsonby Rd, or even right in front of the cafe in its small carpark.

We walked in and immediately thought the tables on the balcony with the church pew bench seats and hessian sack tablecloths were the way to go on this sunny Saturday morning, though the view from the tables is of the carpark.

The most unusual thing on the menu was the 80s mince on toast - something we've noted has been popping up on menus all over Auckland.

We ordered a couple of bagels ($9.50) which came buried under a mountain of lettuce and were accompanied by a couple of slivers of avocado and tomato and a dollop of cream cheese.

The coffee was delicious enough to go back for seconds.

The service was really good and quick.

We recommend if you come here order one of their famous gourmet pies. They look and smell divine.

Overall we thought that we'd all be back to try the counter food which all looked incredibly tasty - especially the enormous savoury scones.
