Gwyneth Paltrow has married Coldplay musician Chris Martin, says the Santa Barbara County clerk-recorder's office. County officials confirmed last Friday that the couple applied for a licence, and that appears to be the date they tied the knot in a brief, secret ceremony.
An official in the county office said on
Wednesday that documents show the wedding took place, but provided no details regarding the exact date or location.
Publicist Stephen Huvane said his clients refuse to confirm or deny the report.
The Oscar-winning actress has been dating Martin, frontman for the British band Coldplay, for the past year. Last week, the actress announced she was expecting their first child next summer.
Paltrow stars as poet Sylvia Plath in the new film Sylvia.
Krall and Costello tie knot
Jazz singer Diana Krall has tied the knot with her beau of one year, Elvis Costello, in a wedding outside London.
The couple married on Saturday night in a ceremony at Elton John's castle, the Globe and Mail has reported. About 150 guests, including Paul McCartney, were sworn to secrecy.
Krall grew up outside Vancouver. The 39-year-old jazz singer and Costello, 49, live in New York and have a home on Vancouver Island.
Krall's management company, Sam Feldman and Associates, did not return a call, and her music label declined comment on the report. The marriage is a first for Krall. Costello's previous two marriages ended in divorce.
'Rings' hits Europe
Thousands of screaming fans greeted the director and stars of the Lord of the Rings at the European premiere of The Return of the King, the final film in the epic trilogy.
Director Peter Jackson, who led the stars to the cinema in Berlin's Potsdamer Platz yesterday, breathed a sigh of relief that the marathon of putting the movies together had finally come to an end.
"I'm relieved we got to the end although there's a lot of sadness, a lot of farewells and saying goodbyes to the actors we've been working with," Jackson said.
"It's been seven years of hard work; I'm going to take one day at a time now."
The epic film, which had its world premiere in New Zealand last week, has been tipped as a possible Oscar winner and is one of the most talked-about movies of the year.
Security was tight at the covered Sony Centre in historic eastern Berlin, where a giant ring hung from the ceiling.
Flags and battle-style pennants lined a 150m red-carpeted corridor leading to the screening.
Until now, only a privileged few had been able to see the movie, due for international public release on December 18, and were sworn to secrecy about details.
However, by their accounts, it surpassed the first two films in the trilogy recreating J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy classic pitting good against evil.
