Former Queen Vic landlady Angie Watts is finally to be killed off in EastEnders - 14 years after leaving Albert Square.
The final "appearance" of one of the best-loved characters in the show will be at her funeral.
BBC chiefs decided on the dramatic storyline after failing to persuade actress Anita Dobson,51, to return to the soap.
Angie, who will die from alcohol abuse, will not be seen in person, but her funeral will be used to bring her daughter, Sharon (Letitia Dean), back to the Square.

Reformed Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen is to marry model-turned-actress Denise Richards, according to Sheen's publicist, Jeff Ballard.
Ballard did not say when 36-year-old Sheen, star of the sitcom Spin City, would tie the knot with his 30-year-old fiancee.
The marriage will be Sheen's second. His first, to model Donna Peele, ended in divorce in 1996.
The youngest son of actor Martin Sheen, he had early success with films including Platoon and Wall Street, but then found himself in the headlines for his battles with drugs and liaisons with prostitutes.
He suffered a near-fatal drug overdose in 1998 and had run-ins with the law over drugs and domestic violence.
Sheen, who has toned down his wild bachelor lifestyle, met Richards on the set of the 1993 movie Loaded Weapon 1.
