Avril Lavigne, known for pairing frilly dresses and combat boots, will bring her style to the juniors department at US department store Kohl's. The edgy, pop-rock star's clothing line "Abbey Dawn" was named after her childhood nickname.
"I actually am the designer," she told Newsweek. "I try everything
on and approve it all."
She joined a long line of celeb-turned-designers, including Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez and Jessica Simpson.

Designer Tanya Carlson has announced she will be leaving Dunedin after 10 years working there and relocating her business to Auckland. The move is partially personal - Carlson's partner is resident in the big smoke - and partially business-related. "I'm taking my business to where the best-skilled people are," she told the Otago Daily Times.
Most of her work has been outsourced for some time anyway, and Carlson credits her brand's growth to an increased presence in Auckland. None of Carlson's staff are being made redundant, as she's been shrinking her workroom staff naturally for some time now, with employees leaving for personal reasons.
