This was the case for one little girl with hearingdifficulties, when her mother sat her on Santa's lap at their local mall in Cleveland, US, until Santa revealed he was proficient in sign language.
In a video uploaded to YouTube and viewed over 250,000 times, the girl's mother explains "she can't speak very well".
Santa asks the woman if her daughter understands sign language. Telling him "she does animals and things like that", Santa begins talking in sign language to the child who immediately engages in an animated conversation.
