Insiders say Meghan Markle's busy acting schedule took toll on her first marriage

Prince Harry's bride Meghan Markle will be walking down the aisle for the second time. She was briefly married to Hollywood producer Trevor Engelson.

The Suits star is set to marry into the British Royal family next Spring, it was announced today.

The 36-year-old actress and 41-year-old Engelson tied the knot in Jamaica in 2011, in a casual ceremony in front of 102 guests.

The pair dated for six years before getting married.

The courtship was fairly long but the marriage wasn't as successful.

Markle and Engelson "quietly separated" in 2013, according to US Weekly.

Insiders said Markle's busy filming schedule was to blame. The actress was filming Suits in Toronto while her husband lived in Los Angeles so the pair did not spend enough time together.

Engelson is now reportedly working on a project about a character who shares custody with the British royal family after his wife marries a prince. Despite the close similarities to his own situation, the project is supposed to be a work of fiction.

Markle and Engelson never had children together.
