We're keen travellers here at Bite so Lonely Planet's latest book The World's Best Brunches has been a welcome addition to the kitchen, helping us to reminisce about our culinary journeys. From the 100 recipes in the book we have chosen two to cook and share with you.

Devilled kidneys is almost as Kiwi as it is English but it doesn't hurt to be reminded of just how easy it is to make, and the Turkish eggs with yoghurt (Cilbir) is the easiest exotic breakfast you'll ever make! Serve them up for brunch this long weekend and transport yourself to the other side of the world.

Ray McVinnie, who has recently jetted in from Buenos Aires, is transporting himself outdoors for an autumn picnic in his latest Get the Idea column and Warren Elwin, who has a soft spot for the USA, has a set of four Cajun-inspired stoups (stew crossed with soup creations). Ben Bayly (The Grove, Baduzzi) is back with another delicious tale from his recent trip to Barcelona and a calamari hotdog recipe to enjoy with an icy cold Estrella.

Meanwhile, Peter Gordon - one of the most well-travelled on the team - is making me want to head to London for one of his Crosstown doughnuts in his column on salted caramel.
