Dad pointed to the shiny black birds perched on the chimney. They held straw in their beaks.

"Those birds!" Dad said.

"What about those birds?" Jessica asked.

"We go away for the weekend and in come those starlings, building their nests in our chimney."

"Not again!" Mum said, as she got out of the car.

"I'll light a little paper in the fireplace," Dad said. "The smoke won't hurt them, but it will shoo them away."
