KEY POINTS:

Are you ready for Air NZ Fashion Week?

Yes. I have been working in stages for this collection which has my largest range of coats and jackets ever. I am currently in East Berlin and will return to Hong Kong to finalise all the touches. My sister
Wende and I always work on the music together after I have completed the collection. The models are chosen, with a couple from overseas on hold, and the invites are done.

What is your inspiration?

Always travel and this season, in particular, East Berlin. I gather ideas from museums, restaurants and people-watching on the streets, and travel with the stories in my head. I am never without a scrapbook. Other inspiration comes from cuttings from magazines, clubs and theatre performances.

What are your goals for this year's show?

I want everyone to leave my show having had a great time. Most importantly, it is to deliver a collection that is strong and leaves an impression. It is not just about me, it is about everyone I work with. If I don't deliver I feel I have let my team down. At the moment I am feeling the pressure.

It's a hectic time. How do you survive that pressure?

I do pilates and run most mornings which is also a time to reflect on the collection. I enjoy Japanese food, it is the ultimate takeaway! Before a show I remove myself from the store so I can immerse myself in the collection and production. This can be lonely but it is very rewarding.

PARTY MONSTER

This year's official wrap party, on Saturday 20 at Pontoon, is set to be a rager with ksubi co-founder Dan Single flying over from Australia to DJ. Single, who DJs as part of the notoriously wild Bang Gang DJs, will be joined by DJ duo People of Paris (Huffer's Steve Dunstan and Stolen Girlfriend Club's Marc Moore), and Tim Phin. Tickets to the R18 party are $35 at www.iticket.co.nz.

LAST CHANCE!

Tickets to the Designer Selection Shows during the week are almost sold out, so be in quick for your chance to take a special sneak peek into the trade event as it's happening, and get a great goodie bag. Tickets start at $65, from Ticketek.

WIN TICKETS TO GO BACKSTAGE AT AIR NZ FASHION WEEK!

Imagine going backstage and being part of the behind-the-scenes action of the runway. Viva is delighted to offer six lucky people the opportunity to be part of a guided tour of the Nivea Blue Room - the heart of all the backstage action, abuzz with models, designers, makeup-artists and photographers. Along with the tour you will also receive general admission tickets to the Fashion Weekend on the Sunday, tickets to the Designer Selection show at 11.30am and a Nivea goodie bag! To go in the draw to win one of three double passes, write your name, address and phone number on an envelope and send it to Nivea Fashion Week Backstage Competition, Viva, NZ Herald, PO Box 3290, Auckland. Entries close September 10, winners announced September 17.

* Check out Viva next week - it will be packed with what's hot and happening at Air NZ Fashion Week!
