First it was Holmes, and now Ice As presenter Petra "Gotcha" Bagust has recorded her own CD - a cover of the Human League's Don't You Want Me with the show's house band, Tadow. The song - a rather rockier affair than the original and almost as melodic - willfeature in the Ice As finale for the year tonight on TV3 (and TV4 repeat tomorrow). As for a pop career afterwards ... well, as one office wag suggested after hearing it, "It will make a nice ashtray to go with Mr Holmes' coaster."
THAT'S JUST WIZARD: Last mention of The Lord of the Rings, promise. But here's something we found we couldn't fit in elsewhere - apparently the code name for the film during its shooting has been the rather jolly Jamboree.
And the website www.theonering.net has the Jamboree script's fake front page for the LOTR screenplay, complete with the scouting movement's "Be Prepared" motto and the inscription, "an affectionate coming-of-age drama set in the New Zealand boy scout movement during the years of turmoil ... 1958 to 1963, by Fredricka Wharburton, Percy J. Judkins, Faye Crutchley and Kennedy Landenburger."
Little wonder so many have been keeping dib-dib-dibs on the film.
PICK FOUR: And in case you were wondering, the new Lotto song took not one, not two, not three, but four writers - Howard Grieve, John Plimmer, Murray Grindlay and Murray McNabb. We, for one, hope their multilingual efforts "Fatialofa, get off the sofa ... ) are recognised at next year's Apra Silver Scrolls.
TOO MUCH OF A GOOD THING DEPARTMENT: Auditions were held this week for a second series of Popstars in Australia with 2000 hopefuls - both girls and boys - trying out. Can't wait.
