An application to film the BBC reality TV show Castaway on Great Barrier Island has been received by the Department of Conservation.
Dale Tawa from DoC said a request has been lodged for consent to film on the Hauraki Gulf island over five months.
In the first Castaway series in 2000, 36 people spent a year fending for themselves on a Scottish island.
