Brian Priestley: An English Kiwi

For several years, Priestley fronted the popular TV programme Fourth Estate, and ran a renowned journalism course at Canterbury University. He has received an MBE for services to New Zealand journalism. For more than 13 years after his retirement he supplied a weekly column for the Christchurch Star.

Now collected here, these are thoughtful, sometimes stroppy pieces on everything from the joys (and possibly even export potential) of pumpkin soup, to the knowledge economy, media criticism, reminiscences about the war years in his native England, race relations, Christianity.

It's an eclectic, enjoyable collection, and fans of Priestley will enjoy dipping into it. Profits from sales go to the Red Cross.
