Transformation: Laura Micetich, 26, went from 142kg (left) to 83.9kg (right) after starting her weight loss journey in 2014. Photo / Instagram

A woman who weighed over 140kg has cured her high blood pressure and hypothyroidism after shedding nearly 60kg on her own — without weight loss surgery.

At just 22 years old, Laura Micetich weighed about 140kg and was close to developing pre-diabetes. The excess weight she carried also caused her issues with her thyroid and blood pressure.

After realising her unhealthy lifestyle was slowly killing her, Micetich, now 26, vowed to get healthy once and for all, going from 142kg to 83kg, according to the Daily Mail.

"You are being presented with a choice: Evolve or remain. If you choose to remain unchanged, you will be presented with the same challenges, the same routine, the same storms, the same situations, until you learn from them... until you love yourself enough to say 'no more'... until you choose change. If you choose to evolve, you will connect with the strength within you. You will explore what lies outside the comfort zone. You will awaken to love... You will become. You will be. You have everything you need. Choose to evolve. Choose to love." . . It's not about losing anything but doubt. It's not about finding anything but yourself. Everything else - the weight, the inches, the insecurities - that's just extra.

"In spring 2014, after graduating from college, I decided to take charge of my life and make a change," she explained on her website, The Iron Giantess Life.

"After trying and failing to get a handle on my health numerous times, my weight had become a serious enough concern that I was considering weight-loss surgery."

Laura kicked off her weight loss by making a 30-day commitment to herself to cut everything from her diet except clean proteins and green vegetables while adopting a cardio and weightlifting regimen that had her working out five times a week.

She admitted that she initially tried to lose weight to be considered a safe candidate for weight loss surgery, but the lifestyle changes she made "quickly grew into an intense love of health, fitness and nutrition".

"I started by going to the gym, lifting weights and eating a clean diet tailored to my body's needs," she explained.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s hard. It’s really freaking hard. Some days it’s damn near impossible. But it’s always worth it. We’re waking up every morning deciding to be someone else... breaking habits we’ve had for years... fighting impulses we’ve succumbed to daily. But at some point, we aren’t being someone else. We’re finding ourselves. 💪🏼 Stay strong, my loves. Our journeys are just beginning. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #theirongiantess #livegiant #faf ⁣#usmewe⁣ #fit #gym #fitness #health #mindset #weightlosstransformation #bodytransformation #weightlifting #instafit #weightloss #fitspo #motivation #gymmotivation #body #travel #adventure

"It only took a few weeks for me to realise that I didn't need to go under the knife. I needed to get under the bar."

The University School of Jackson teacher shared that she lost almost all of her weight in just the first 10 months.

Within a year, the 1.8m fitness model shed more than 45kg without surgery. Her newfound love of fitness also inspired her to create her website, which offers fitness plans and nutrition guides.

Every morning, we wake up and start over. No matter how terribly or how amazingly yesterday went. No matter how sure we are that “we will start tomorrow”. We will wake up and we will start over. Because the only thing that matters... the only thing we control... the only thing we are promised... is right freaking now. So they better believe that we’re using it. The sun will rise again and we will try again. #tig #theirongiantesslife #tigtrains #theirongiantess #weightlifting #transformation #fitness #instafit

Set goals. Stay quiet about them. Smash the $&1€ out of them. Clap for yourself. Repeat. Second bench day of the week calls for slighter higher rep schemes and lower weight so I’m just gonna play down here, thanks 🙃😏 Shoutout to @ethantowen for finally helping me fix my bench grip and @adamwebb86 for the cameo. 💪🏼

"I am now health-issue free and my life has changed for the better with the simple realisation that what we want and what we do are completely in our own control," she explained on her site.
